James L. Bumgarner, 78, of Cambridge, Idaho passed away Tuesday, December 20 at his family home. Jim was born September 14th, 1938 in Cambridge, the 3rd son of Carl and Alice Bumgarner. He spent his whole life living in Cambridge. Never living very far from the house he was born in and passed away in. Jim married Carol Cutler in 1956. They raised four children together. Jim and Carol divorced after 38 years of marriage but remained close friends thorough out the years. Jim married Arleen McCaulou in 2000. They spent many years hunting and fishing together before Jim’s health started to fade.

Jim attended part of a year of College at the University of Idaho before he came home to take over the family ranch. Jim was the third generation to farm and ranch on his family’s homestead increasing the acreage as time went on. Raising beef cows, dairy cows, corn, wheat, hay and other crops. He also owned and operated Bucky’s Café with Carol for 12 years.

Jim was also very dedicated to the Cambridge community. He started serving on numerous committees at the age of 18 continuing until his death. They included: The Cambridge Fire Department, Cambridge Volunteer Ambulance Department, Hitt Mountain Ski Patrol, Water District #67, Flood Control District #3, Cambridge Cemetery District, Cambridge School Board and Weiser River Cattlemen Association.

He is survived by his wife Arleen of Cambridge, Son Steve (Angie) Bumgarner of Cambridge, Daughter Jamie Baggs of Eagle, Idaho, Daughter Terri Fry of Cambridge and Son Tim (Bev) Bumgarner of Cambridge. Step-sons Lynn (Kim) McCaulou and Cory McCaulou of Emmett. Grandchildren JR (Malia), Carl (Vanessa) and Lynsey Bumgarner and Matthew Ball, Ben Roundtree (Melissa), Leland Roundtree (Deidre), Valery Jones (Jared), Perry Braun (Monica), Chris Fry, Kevin Fry, Madison McCaulou and Jody McCaulou. Brother Robert Bumgarner and fifteen great grandchildren. Numerous nephews and nieces. Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, infant brothers John and Charles, brother Calvin, sister Sharon, granddaughter Emily Roundtree, grandsons Jacob Roundtree and Joseph Fry and Step-son Jason McCaulou.
